Essex is extending an invitation to the CEO of E.L.K Energy to find out what keeps causing power-outages throughout town.
Councillor Sherry Bondy says complaints about power-outages keep coming in from Ward 4.
"Recently I did a survey throughout Ward 4, Harrow. One of the biggest complaints that's coming back — and it's also surfacing on social media — people are really upset with the amount of power-outages we are having," she says.
She tells AM800 News, it's inconvenient anytime the power goes out, but to have it go out daily is a nuisance.
"Complaints from businesses in Harrow, people are replacing equipment and machinery. A lot of other things that are nuisance in everyday life, like how many times do you have to reset your stove and your alarm clock," she says. "People who are on CPAP [Continuous Positive Airway Pressure] machines, the breathing apparatuses at night, are having a hard time sleeping."
Council hopes to work with E.L.K.'s CEO Mike Audet to find a solution, Bondy added.
"Can he provide that public presence and give a public explanation as to the amount of power-outages, will we see them stop in the near future, is it a supplier issue, is it infrastructure, is it E.L.K. themselves," says Bondy. "Residents are really owed that explanation."
Bondy — who sits on the E.L.K. board — says council hopes to have a representative attend its next meeting.
