The fate of this year's Essex Fun Fest will be decided Monday evening.
Town council will be making a final decision after the festival's organizing committee recommended last month to cancel the event due to COVID-19.
Festival Committee Chair and Councillor Joe Garon says the committee looked at a number of factors such as safety, sponsorships as well as planning given the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We've had some people say it's a little to early to cancel but once I explained to them the reasons behind it, it's a little more understanding, sometimes people just think it's black and white right," says Garon.
He believes council will be in favour of cancelling this year's event.
"I don't think we'll get much push back from council," says Garon. "I think there maybe some questions and maybe some regrets to it but at the end of the day, it will be fairly unanimous that they'll be ok with withdrawing it for this year."
The festival is scheduled to run from July 2 to July 5.
