A long time Harrow resident is looking to fill the void left on Essex town council.
As heard on AM800 News this week, Rodney Hammond has filed his nomination papers for the ward three byelection.
Hammond says he decided to run after speaking to family and friends.
He says it's his first time running for town council.
Hammond says he's been keeping a close eye on Essex council.
"I've been interested in local politics for sometime and losing Bill [Caixeiro] was a shock" said Hammond, "But my friends and family have goaded me into running and representing them in the upcoming byelection"
Hammond feels now is the right time to enter municipal politics.
Hammond says the Harrow area has been taking things on the chin.
Mike Jenner and Ron Rogers are also running.
The ward 3 seat was left vacant after the sudden resignation of Bill Caixeiro early last month.
The by-election is set for Monday October 23rd.
The last day to file nomination papers is September 7th at 2pm.
