The 6-month anniversary of opening the Erie Shores Hospice in Leamington has just passed.
The 10 bed facility is up and fully functional.
Erie Shores volunteer Joan McSweeney has been very involved in the opening of the site.
She says everything is on track: "they are going so well, our volunteers are on deck and our staff is working hard and our families are so appreciative we get good comments every day, it's very heartwarming"
McSweeney says the final touches to the landscaping are going in with the planting of mature trees.
She says they're already looking to the future, with plans for a labyrinth that will be a fundraiser.
McSweeney says the landscaping that's going in right now has all been donated by a number of benefactors.
The $5-million facility opened in early April, serving southern Essex County and part of Chatham-Kent.
