The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Watch.
ERCA says there is a chance of flooding on shoreline areas of Leamington, Kingsville, Essex, Amherstburg and Pelee Island due to forecasted high winds.
The winds together with the current high lake levels increase the probability for shoreline erosion and wave damage to all low lying shore reaches for the affected municipalities.
Waves overtopping the breakwalls have the potential to transport rocks and debris onto the adjacent lands.
ERCA warns that people should take extra caution and avoid shoreline areas during wind/lake wave events.
The Flood Watch is in effect until noon Thursday.
