It's budget time at the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board and, as usual, declining enrolment poses the biggest challenge.
A new report predicts as many as 500 fewer students will be enrolled come September and that means less funding from the province.
Superintendent Peggy King says the board is trying to prioritize spending with the help of a budget consolation survey sent out to parents. "We definitely try to incorporate the results of the survey into the current years budget development. So we'll try to see if there's an area focused, that the stake holders have identified, if we can use that in directing our resources in the upcoming budget."
Among the results of the survey is an increased demand for the use of technology in the classroom.
King says that, combined with fewer students, puts pressure on an already tight budget.
