Elderly Man Charged After Crashing into Crash Truck

A crash truck safety vehicle was stopped to provide protection for trucks painting lines on the highway

An elderly man is charged after crashing into a 'crash truck' on the 401 in Chatham-Kent which is designed to prevent crashes.

The OPP were called on Tuesday, April 23 at 4pm for a collision on the highway near Merlin Rd.

A 'crash truck' safety vehicle was stopped in the eastbound lanes to provide protection for trucks painting lines on the highway.

But the driver of an eastbound vehicle, approaching the truck, tried to pass and sideswiped it causing significant damages to both vehicles.

No one was hurt.

An 82-year-old London man is charged with careless driving.
