It's moving day for the Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation.
It is relocating its offices from the west end at the University of Windsor to the downtown and is taking over the ground floors of the former City Beer Market building and the Chatham St. Grill building.
"I think everybody is pretty positive, we have been watching the office take shape, the buildings were older buildings that had to be completed renovated," says CEO Stephen MacKenzie.
The corporation's lease with the university was coming up for renewal and the board asked staff to look at the downtown building.
It should open for business officially, with its 16 staff on site, on Wednesday.
MacKenzie says the corporation wanted to be a part of rebuilding downtown.
"It is an opportunity to be downtown, to be a catalyst, to be part of the rejuvenation of downtown and certainly we see that going on and we certainly play that catalyst role," says MacKenzie.
MacKenzie tells AM800 News the new location is bigger.
"Should be a little bit easier to serve our clients. We have a lot of appointment clients and walk-in clients, especially for our Small Business Centre and so we have expanded space there for that, we have expanded space to provide on site training."
The new offices are about 8,000 square feet compared to 7, 200 square feet at its university location.
It had been at the university for more than six and a half years.
