After fielding questions about the sale and re-purposing of the Windsor Public Library main branch, the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association is holding an open house.
The city is selling the main library branch on Ouellette Ave. to the Downtown Mission, which plans to transform it into residential space.
DWBIA Chair Larry Horwitz says there has never been public consultation about the move and it impacts a lot of people and businesses in the core.
"There are a lot of unanswered questions," says Horwitz. "What would be the future of that property? How does it affect the business community in the downtown core area? How does it affect the residential community?"
The DWBIA will hold its open house at the Best Western Waterfront Hotel on Tuesday, June 26th at 5:30 pm.
He says people have a lot at stake that could be impacted by the move. "There's a lot of hard working people that have invested multi-millions of dollars in their businesses and the downtown core area," says Horwitz. "There's a lot of people who have residential homes throughout the downtown area, this affects the entire city of Windsor as well."
He also agrees this is the kind of event the city would ordinarily host, but there's been no move in that direction.
