The 'interim' tag has been removed from Dwight Duncan's title at the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority.
Canada's Ministry of Infrastructure and Communities has officially appointed him as Chair of the Board of Directors for a five-year period.
Duncan thinks his local connections and experience played a big role in the appointment.
"You know I've been involved in the border file down there (Windsor/Detroit) believe it or not since 1985," says Duncan. "People forget this but Huron Church Rd. was a one-lane road in both directions with no turning lanes until 1986. You know I look forward to the next five years and I look forward to the day when hopefully the president of the United States and prime minister of Canada will cut the ribbon on that new bridge."
He's been under the 'interim' title since January. The long-time local politician held several cabinet roles with the McGuinty Liberals including Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance.
