TECUMSEH — A Stoney Point woman was shaken up after she was heading into Windsor on the 401 and came across a driver going in the wrong direction, into oncoming traffic.
Karla CoMartin was heading westbound on the highway near Manning Rd. around 9:15am Monday when the vehicle ahead of her moved over and she saw a vehicle heading head-on straight at her.
"I see the car coming at me, and my son is telling me to move over mom, move over," she says.
She managed to move over to the middle lane, but tells AM800 News, her vehicle fish-tailed because she swerved so quickly.
The OPP responded to reports of a vehicle travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes in Tecumseh.
Police say an elderly driver had inadvertently entered the highway in the wrong direction.
CoMartin says thankfully, there wasn't a crash.
"It could have been a really bad incident," she says. "There was quite a bit of traffic surrounding me and I was able to safely get into the other lane was short of a miracle."
The OPP say several officers responded and shut down ramps as the vehicle was located and safely pulled over, west of Manning Rd.
The elderly driver was taken to the Essex County OPP detachment where he was met by family members.
No one was hurt and there weren't any collisions as a result.
