It happened in Lakeshore just before 5am.
The driver of a tractor trailer suffered smoke inhalation after his truck caught fire on the 401 in Essex County Monday morning
Lakeshore OPP were called around 4:55am to the 401 near the 51 kilometre marker.
A VOLVO tractor trailer carrying a load of paper products caught fire and was fully engulfed when the fire department and police arrived on scene.
The driver was taken to the hospital but was otherwise unharmed.
The cause of the fire is not known.

A lane reduction on Highway 401 westbound between Essex County Road 42 and Highway 77 will be in place until approximately 12:00 p.m. as the vehicle is being removed from the highway.
