The Windsor-Essex Dragon Boat Festival for the Cure will be celebrating its 15th year in a different location.
Last year the festival was held at the south end of Lakewood Park.
After the Town of Tecumseh denied a request for the races to be moved to the north side of the park, the fate of the festival was up in the air.
Event President Gerry Orum has now confirmed the festival will be taking place this year, but he is not releasing a location yet.
He says they are in the final stages of securing the event's venue.
"We will be in a new home," says Orum. "Currently we are not able to let people know where the event will be held. "There are still a few administration things that have to be taken care of but we are going to be out there on Sunday July the 9th."
He says finding a new location for the festival was a challenging process.
"It was a little more hectic for us then we originally thought it would be," says Orum. "You have to make sure that the water is the right depth and that people can bring the boats into shore. It is also important that there is no real heavy currents in where you are trying to race so you can make all the lanes safely."
He says as always, the money raised from the races will go towards breast cancer research.
"Fundraising efforts are certainly more challenging from the point that there are a lot of great charities out there," says Orum. "You know people pick their favourites and they go through with them and we hope to be able to continue to raise money for breast cancer and a few other side things that we do."
Orum says they are aiming for at least 60 teams to participate in this year's races.
