The organizers of the Windsor-Essex Dragon Boat Festival For The Cure are hoping to bring the event back to Windsor.
President Gerry Orum says talks are underway with the city to host the event at Sandpoint Beach in July.
He says the festival was held there for a number of years before it made the move to Tecumseh. Last year the event was held at the south end of Lakewood Park. Organizers approached Tecumseh town council in September and were denied a request to move the event to the north side of the park.
Orum says returning to Windsor makes the most sense. "It looks like the best site for us currently to get back to it and get all our paddlers happy and be on one side of the water, that was the big issue in Tecumseh."
The festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary.
If approved, the races would take place July 9th.
