Changes are coming to a popular downtown Windsor restaurant.
The City Grill on Ouellette Ave. at Park St. is switching from an a la carte restaurant to an events centre.
Managing Partner Matt Komsa says his team researched and discovered there is a need for an event centre in the city and the downtown core.
He says the restaurant will continue to operate until the new year but will switch over to an events centre on January 2.
Komsa says the switch over has been discussed for the past three months and is already taking shape.
"I think we have six weddings booked up already for 2018 and about another four or five events that we secured," says Komsa. "So we've already seen without releasing it to the public, we've already seen amazing results and feedback."
The City Grill opened seven years ago and Komsa says at the time, it was a big move for the downtown.
"It's been a wonderful seven years and the business has evolved and you see voids in the market, so we saw an opportunity we couldn't pass up," he says.
The City Grill will be known as The City Grill Event Centre.
The 7000 sq. ft. space has a seating capacity for up to 350 people.
