It is going to be a cold night for the executive director of the Downtown Mission.
For a third year in a row, Reverend Ron Dunn will be spending the night outside to raise awareness and money to fight homelessness.
Dunn is encouraging people to stop by and chat about the root causes which are addictions, mental health and the lack of affordable housing.
Dunn will be on a bench on Ouellette Avenue in front of the Downtown Mission Wellness Centre from Thursday, November 14th at 11am to Friday, November 15th at 11am
Dunn says the goal is to get to what is known as 'functional zero.'
"Functional zero is when you reach a point where chronic homelessness has been solved," he says. "There is always going to be people that flip in and out, but people who are experiencing it often, we can stop that, we can help them find housing."
