The strike at Caesars Windsor is having an impact on businesses downtown.
Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association Chairman, Larry Horwitz says he's hearing from many businesses about the hurt. "Well obviously there's an effect downtown. We feel for the people that are striking and we understand some of their anxieties," says Horwitz.
This is Day 35 in the strike by more than 2,100 casino workers.
Horwitz says he's heard traffic is down in the core. "I spoke to difference merchants along Pitt St., along Ouellette Ave. and along Pelissier St."
Horwitz notes that the cancellation of events and shows at the casino is on aspect impacting businesses in the core. "Show nights, they've always had an increase in business. It is a little lonelier downtown without these big shows and some of the people who come to the casino," he says.
