The City of Windsor has officially opened the Dougall Avenue/CN Rail Pedestrian Underpass.
Construction on the $9-million project began in 2019 but it took years to come to fruition.
Mayor Drew Dilkens says studies along with planning and an agreement with CN Rail all took place for the project to move forward.
Dilkens says the project accomplishes a number of goals.
"Obviously it makes travel by car safer by re-doing the intersection at Dougall and Ouellette Place, but also by providing proper cycling and active transportation access for people who have been asking for this for the better part of 50 years," he says.
