The minivan is used for home visits and to help clients get to critical appointments

The local branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association has some new wheels, thanks to the Do Good Divas.

The group of ladies has pledged to purchase a new 2019 Chrysler Dodge Caravan to help the organization.

The CMHA's current vehicle is almost 20 years old and it needs a van to help with home visits and to help clients get to critical appointments.

"It's critical," says CMHA Manager of Housing and Facility Services Steve Govette.  "I mean a vehicle like this, with our budgets we would never be able to afford something like that, so having a donation and gift like this allows us to have a safe reliable vehicle."

Windsor Chrysler has also offered to pay for maintenance on the minivan for five years.

Do Good Divas President Gale Simko-Hatfield says it was an easy cause to support.

"The transportation is needed now as opposed to waiting for October when our event is here so we are really excited about that, that we have made the pledge for the funding."

In the past 12 years, "A Girls Night in Handbag Heaven" event has raised more than $550,000 to support several organizations in Windsor-Essex.

This year's fundraiser is scheduled for Thursday, October 24th.
