So far so good for a downtown deli owned by the Downtown Mission.
Mission Executive Director Ron Dunn says the "Do Good Deli" is exceeding expectations.
"We're really feeling the love actually," says Dunn. "We're being very well supported."
He says a lot of people have come through the doors since the deli opened in mid-March. Dunn says the deli is also receiving plenty of catering orders.
It's been a busy few months.
"It's seeing a lot of people come through and they're enjoying their meals and telling their friends which is great and a lot more catering jobs then we first anticipated so I guess that's the added bonus and of course we're training people on how to get back in the work force so that's the excitement," says Dunn.
He says the deli is providing employment opportunities as part of a Mission program.
"We have two full-time employees there, but it's the students that really, are the driving focus so we have usually about three to four of them at any one time in there so we're really filling the mandate of training and providing quality food," says Dunn.
The deli helps people to get back into the work force by providing people a job for 40 days before interviews are lined up elsewhere.
The deli is located at 875 Ouellette Ave.
