The CEO of Windsor Regional Hospital is alleviating any concerns that funding for the new acute care hospital could be in jeopardy under the PC government.
In fact, David Musyj says there is a meeting this Thursday over the phone with the Ministry of Health's capital projects branch to pick up the discussions where they left off, before the provincial election was called.
The concerns were raised by Ward 3 Councillor Rino Bortolin last week after news the province was pulling funding to convert the Paul Martin building downtown into a law school.
Musyj says it is best to keep politics out of the project because the $2-billion in funding is desperately needed in this area.
He expects some of the discussion on Thursday will be about where to locate a new Urgent Care Clinic — at the former Grace Hospital site or at the current Ouellette hospital campus.
Musyj says nothing has changed under the PC government dealing with project.
"There has been literally no indication whatsoever that the project is going to stop or the funding is going stop to move the project forward, if anything the discussions are how do we move it forward, what do we need to complete."
The hospital is slated to be built on land at County Rd. 42 and the 9th Concession.
Back in August, Windsor City Council voted 8-2 to rezone the land from agricultural to industrial to allow for the hospital.
At that time, Councillors Rino Bortolin and Chris Holt voted against rezoning.
