Amherstburg's Michael DiPietro is getting his first NHL start.
The former Windsor Spitfire goalie, now with the Ottawa 67's, was called up by the Vancouver Canucks last week due to injuries.
DiPietro had dressed, but was yet to play until he got the call Monday he'd be starting at home against the San Jose Sharks.
The 19-year-old DiPietro was selected 64th overall by the Canucks in the 2017 NHL Draft.
#Canucks confirm DiPietro to start in goal vs SJ. Originally a planned start for Markstrom, the change is a precaution due to tightness in his lower body and extends his maintenance and recovery period between starts. Markstrom will not be available to play tonight’s game. pic.twitter.com/4hGlLaMg8f
