The Mayor of Windsor is working to bring an auto parts manufacturer to the city.
Drew Dilkens is in Germany this week along with officials from the Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation to meet with an unnamed company.
Dilkens told AM800's 'The Morning Drive' if the company locates to Windsor, it could create up to 300 jobs. "I've been in a lot of tool and die plants, mould plants, and we do some fantastic work in Windsor-Essex, there's no doubt about it. These folks do some unique things and think it will help enhance to offerings we have in our community as well."
But Dilkens says they are competing with a city in Alabama which is offering quite a few incentives including free land. "Whatever you need, it's free. Development charges, everything is waived, just come set up your plant. I think these folks, they may end up going to Alabama, we don't have a final decision yet. But I think they are wise to the fact that if everything is free there is a reason for that as well.
Dilkens says officials from the company have been to Windsor already and will be back in mid-August for another visit as they consider locating to the city.
