Windsor's mayor is optimistic after meeting with officials of Beam-Suntory, which has announced plans to close the Canadian Club Brand Centre.
Joined by Windsor West MP Brian Masse, Drew Dilkens met with the General Manager of North American Operations and the Vice President of Communications.
"We met with these folks, it was a very positive meeting, there were a number of takeaways from both sides so we pledged to get back to them in short order with some information and they'll do the same so I'm pleased the conversation is still ongoing," says Dilkens.
He says it's not anything like a done deal, but there is the possibility of reaching an agreement:
"I understand some of the challenges and I've pledged to see what we can do to assist and on the same front they understand the impact to the community and they've had some takeaways they're going to work on and we'll have dialogue in the very near future to see if we can keep this moving forward," says Dilkens.
Dilkens says the company did not commit to keeping the centre open past March 31st.
