The president of Unifor wants to keep the riding of Essex orange.
Jerry Dias was in town on Friday and attended a campaign event at the Essex Centre Sports Complex for NDP incumbent Tracey Ramsey.
He told the crowd Ramsey is the right person for the riding and if he lived in Essex he would be voting for her.
"Tracey is a strong strong member of parliament," says Dias. "She stands up for working class people each and everyday. So it's important the Tracey Ramsey's of the world are re-elected to continue the strong voice that they have in Ottawa. We need Tracey, that's why I'm here."
Dias adds Ramsey has a strong voice and pushes the government.
"I've worked with Tracey for the last four years in Ottawa, I know how well she's represented the community of Essex County," says Dias. "She is a rock star. She delivered on her commitments to the people of Essex County and she deserves another term, no question in my mind."
Ramsey is up against Conservative candidate Chris Lewis, Liberal candidate Audrey Festeryga while Jennifer Alderson is representing the Green Party and Bill Capes is running for the newly formed People's Party of Canada.
The federal election is October 21st.
