The fight between Unifor and General Motors continues Wednesday.
National Unifor president Jerry Dias will be in Washington, where he will meet with his counterpart from America's United Auto Workers to discuss next steps by the unions in the wake of GM's announcement it will close five plants in Canada and the U.S. by late 2019.
After meeting in Ottawa yesterday with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Dias told reporters that GM "just showed the president of the United States and the prime minister of Canada their middle finger" by moving production out of Canada and the U.S.
Dias said the move could lead to the collapse of the auto-parts industry in Canada, noting GM has already moved production of five models of vehicle to the U.S. and Mexico in the past few years.
