A statement says the mall will continue to uphold the mask order during the COVID19 pandemic

Management at Devonshire Mall is warning store employees and mall staff about a potential anti-mask protest.

A group called Questioning COVID in Windsor-Essex plans on entering the mall at some point Saturday without masks in defiance of public health by-laws.

According to post on the group's page, the protest was initially set for 10 a.m., but a memo from the malls Associate Director Chris Savard to store managers indicates it may happen around 2 p.m.

In the statement obtained by AM800 News, Savard says officials are working with Windsor Police Services and the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.

He goes on to say the mall will continue to uphold the mask order during the COVID-19 pandemic in the interest of public safety.

There will also be an increased security presence Saturday that will include Windsor police officers and members of the health unit.
