The fasion mogul was found inside her New York Apartment this morning

Fashion mogul Kate Spade is dead from an apparent suicide at age 55.

The designer reportedly hanged herself with a scarf on a bedroom doorknob and left a note.  

Her housekeeper reportedly made the disturbing discovery this morning inside Spade's Park Avenue apartment.

She burst onto the design scene in the early 90s with handbags and eventually expanded her empire to include bedding, china, wallpaper and shoes and leaves a husband and daughter.

Kate Spade was comedian David Spade's sister-in-law.
