Design plans have been approved for a $1.2-million jetty at West Beach in Lakeshore.
Council approved the plans Tuesday night for the 150m long structure which will be 3m wide.
Tenders will now be issued with construction expected to begin after labour day.
"Back in January when we came forward with the Environmental Assessment results, council decided they wanted to see the final design before it went to construction," says Engineer Dan Krutsch. "They also committed to giving the public one last chance to see what is proposed before we put shovels in the ground."

He says it will be a nice spot for residents.
"As part of the project we are building these little resting nodes with some shade structures, so people can go out onto the structure and sit down and watch the sunset or watch people swimming or watch the boaters and we are building three larger nodes rather than smaller nodes."
A public meeting is set for July 6th.
The project should be completed before the end of the year.
