Point Pelee National Park will be closed, starting tomorrow, for a deer cull.
Park officials are working with the Caldwell First Nation to reduce the white tail deer population to help restore the eco-system.
Hyperabundant deer are a serious threat to the Carolinian Forest, which is home to many species at risk such as the red-headed woodpecker and red mulberry trees.
Officials say a healthy Point Pelee can support 24-32 deer, but there are currently more than 80 in the park.
The park will be closed from Thursday to January 23rd.
