A 31-year-old man who fled secondary inspection at the Ambassador Bridge has been arrested in Dayton, Ohio.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers say the man, who is a U.S. citizen was stopped for inspection at the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit on January 22nd.
The Dayton man was referred for a secondary inspection but according to the CBP, he sped away at a high rate of speed, passing the secondary inspection area and driving through the toll booths, onto a metro Detroit freeway.
An arrest warrant was issued and obtained by CPB.
On January 31st, the man was taken into custody by the Dayton Ohio Police Department on separate charges.
At that time, Dayton police confirmed the arrest warrant.
CBP Officers from Detroit took the man into custody on February 4th.
He was later taken to the United States District Court - Southern District of Ohio and was turned over to U.S. Marshals.
According to the CBP, if the man is found guilty, he could face a fine, imprisonment or both.
