If you thought January was a dark and dreary month weather-wise, you'd be right.
Senior Climatologist at Environment Canada David Phillips says most of the clear skies happened at night.
"Missing in action was the sun," says Phillips. "You had to be re-introduced to that bright spot in the sky, it was like a UFO."
There were 15 fog days in January when typically there should be three.
He says sunshine totals were well below, about half, of what they normally should be.
"A lot of overcast, a lot of cloud and a lot of fog. There was one stretch where you went for five or six days where every hour was a foggy hour and that tells you how warm the air was," says Phillips.
There were only six "dry" days when there wasn't any snow or rain when normally there should be about 15.
