Damage is estimated at $200,000 after an early morning house fire on Windsor's near west-side.
Crews were called to 1654 Martindale Street between McEwan and Campbell around 3:00am Wednesday and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the first and second floors of the three-storey, four-unit building.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer John Lee says the fire started in a sofa but the cause is undetermined.
He says Red Cross attended the scene to deal with displaced tenants.
The residents were alerted by a working smoke alarm which allowed nine people to safely escape.
No one hurt.
