As expected, the Buffalo Sabres selected Swedish defenceman Rasmus Dahlin with the 1st overall pick.
At number 6, the Red Wings picked right winger Filip Zadina of the Halifax Mooseheads.
The Maple Leafs selected Rasmus Sandin with the 29th overall pick after trading down with the St. Louis Blues.
Round 2 of the draft begins Saturday at 11am.
