600 Thanksgiving dinners were handed out in Windsor
600 families in Windsor-Essex will have a good Thanksgiving thanks to Cupe local 543.
In its third Operation Giveback, it handed out 500 turkeys and 100 chickens plus a bag with all the trimmings to people in need.
Food was handed out this morning at the Unemployed Help Centre and again this afternoon from 12:30-3:30pm.
Kathy received some food and says there was a lot of food to share.
"Chicken, potatoes, carrots, cookies all kinds of stuff and apples. This will be great. I will take it all to my grandkids and we will have something for Thanksgiving anyway," she says
Cupe Local 543 President Mark Vander Voort says part of being grateful is giving back. "This is our chance to tell the community how thankful we are for our jobs."
Vander Voort says the food was paid for through the local and its members.
