There's new campaign aimed at getting more illegal weapons off the streets.
Windsor & Essex County Crime Stoppers has launched the $1,000 Guaranteed Reward Campaign.
The money will be paid out to anyone who provides a tip that leads to the seizure of an illegal firearm, arrest of anyone responsible and a weapons charge laid.
Police Co-ordinator Constable Karen Sinnaeve hopes the campaign will help police in not only getting illegal guns off the streets but charging those in possession of illegal weapons.
She says area police forces are on board with the campaign.
"We've been finding, we've been dealing more and more with illegal firearms in our communities and working with Windsor Police, OPP and LaSalle Police in discussing the issues in our communities, this was one of the issues that was brought up and encouraged by all police forces," says Sinnaeve.
The campaign runs until September 8th.
Last year's campaign targeted fentayl traffickers.
All tips are kept anonymous and can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
