The number of COVID-19 cases in Michigan has once again skyrocketed.
The total number of cases in the state as of Tuesday afternoon is 1,791, which is 559 cases higher than Monday.
The City of Detroit has the most cases with 563, followed by Oakland County with 428, Wayne County with 310 and Macomb County with 225.
52 per cent of the cases in Michigan are male and 20 percent of the total cases are ages 50-59.
The Detroit Police Department has also confirmed one of its staff members has died from complications of the coronavirus.
Police Chief James Craig said the person was a 38-year-old 911 dispatcher but his family requested his name not be released.
The man had taken a trip out of state the week of March 9th and was not feeling well and doctors believed he had bronchitis but determined it was COVID-19 after he died.
Mayor Mike Duggan also announced on Monday that 14 City of Detroit workers, including nine police officers tested positive for the virus.
