The Windsor-Essex Solid Waste Authority is one step closer to passing its 2020 budget.
On Wednesday night, Essex County Council approved the authority’s budget which calls for a 4.1% increase.
Manager of Finance and Administration, Michelle Bishop says the increase is needed to ensure the authority balances its books by 2027.
A rate hike of 4.1% was approved in 2019 as well.
Approval is still needed from the City of Windsor to move forward.
City council is expected to discuss the authority's budget in late January.
