The City of Windsor continues to put the pieces in place to expand and widen Cabana Rd.
On tonight's agenda, council will discuss the proposed expropriation of nine properties between Howard Ave. and Clara Ave., which are needed to widen the road to four lanes.
Councillor Fred Francis says "the properties are small sections of land, mostly residential front lawns, needed for the expansion."
"Expropriation is never easy," says Francis. "You're looking at portions of the property and any time you're dealing with expropriation it is a difficult topic, difficult subject. In this case it's almost like a last resort, with respect to expropriation of land needs to occur in order for the betterment of the current situation and the project to move forward."
Francis adds, $4.2-million has been set aside for expropriation matters over the course of the project.
The goal is to have Cabana Road widened to four lanes up to Highway 3 by 2022.
