Hundreds of job opportunities will be up for grabs in Windsor next month as the Windsor Regional Employment Network hosts a pair of major hiring events.

Costco is looking to staff its new east Windsor store, expected to open later this fall, and will host a job fair at the Serbian Centre on Sept. 23.

John Trpeski is the executive director of Employment and Social Services with the City of Windsor.

He says more than 200 positions are available and some applicants could receive offers on the spot.

“Costco is going to be interviewing qualified candidates on the spot, and in many cases, they would receive confirmation of employment on the spot as well, so that’s exciting news,” Trpeski said.

The Sept. 23 event runs from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, although online applicants will receive priority for interviews.

A second career fair follows on Sept. 24 at the Caboto Club running from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and is aimed at everyone from first-time job seekers to people looking for a career change.

Trpeski says more than 30 employers from a variety of sectors will be on hand looking for workers.

“Some of the other employers included on the 24th event include Minth, Ford, Caesars Windsor, OPP, CBSA, Windsor Regional Hospital, and the Canadian Armed Forces,” he said.

Trpeski says events will give residents direct access to recruiters and hiring managers while helping employers connect with local talent.

“With over 400 positions available, specifically 200 of those positions with Costco alone, it creates additional opportunities for everybody out there in the community to gain some meaningful employment with whatever they’re looking for,” Trpeski said.

“I think there’s with this job fair, there’s something for everybody.”

Job seekers are encouraged to bring resumes, dress professionally and research potential employers before attending.

Applying online in advance is also recommended to help secure interviews.
