Darius Slay is apparently ready to leave Detroit. ESPN, citing an unidentified source, reported Wednesday night that cornerback Desmond Trufant had agreed to a two-year deal with the Lions.
Slay, who is currently Detroit's top player at that position, tweeted in response to that reported deal that he's hoping for a quick trade.
Trufant was released by Atlanta earlier this week after spending seven seasons with the Falcons.
Last year he missed seven games with a shoulder injury and still led Atlanta with four interceptions.
Trufant could be a replacement for corner Darius Slay, who has one year left on a contract extension he signed with Detroit in 2016.
The Lions have acquired safety Duron Harmon in a trade with the New England Patriots.
Harmon was selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Rutgers by the Patriots. He had 171 tackles, 28 pass defenses and 17 interceptions in 111 games over seven years with New England. The Lions have not released the terms of the trade as of yet.
The Lions have signed free agent defensive tackle Danny Shelton. Shelton was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round in 2015 and was traded to the New England Patriots before the 2018 season. Last year he had 61 tackles and three sacks in 16 games, including 14 starts.
