Construction gets underway Tuesday in Windsor's Jackson Park.
Crews will begin to demolish and replace the park's washroom and maintenance buildings.
Windsor's Corporate Leader of Parks, Recreation, Culture and Facilities, Jan Wilson says the park will not have washrooms during construction but it will remain accessible.
"The sunken gardens will still be open for the community to come and use," says Wilson. "At this time, the parking lot will still be available as well. There will be a few spaces that will be taken up as part of the construction work but you will still be able to access both the parking and the pedestrian areas for the sunken gardens for the time being."
She says the current buildings are only open during the summer months.
"Both these buildings were built in the 1960's and the washrooms are not accessible, so we are replacing them with a little bit larger building," says Wilson. "They'll be accessible, they'll be insolated, there will be more stalls. I think it will be a much better experience for the users of the park."
Construction on the washroom and maintenance buildings is set to wrap up in mid-August.

Once that is complete, Wilson says the reconstruction of the park's main parking lot off Tecumseh Rd. E will begin.
"That will happen late this summer and for that project we are replacing the exiting parking lot and we're actually expanding it," she says . "We're adding an additional 48 spaces, we're adding bike racks so that will better serve the park as well. It is an extremely popular park."
Work on the parking is scheduled to be finished by mid-October.
In 2018, city council approved $2.1-million worth of upgrades at Jackson Park.
