Drivers can expect some delays Monday morning at the intersection of Manning Road and County Rd. 22 in Tecumseh.
Work is set to begin on the $6.9-million reconstruction project which is expected to take until the end of November to complete.
One Tecumseh councillor is asking motorists to be patient during this time.
Rita Ossington says be cautious and slow down.
"We know human nature is not going to take people to Tecumseh Rd., that's going to be the detour route, people will be cutting through any street that will take them east and west to get to their destination without having to wait in long lines."
Ossington adds, if you are cutting through a residential area, be vigilant.
"Please, please slow down. You're going through neighbourhoods with children and seniors and people walking their dogs and kids getting off school buses and crossing roads and that sort of thing. Especially during this time when we're going to be going through this major construction, just respect the neighbourhoods that you're going through."
In recent years, traffic congestion has become an issue at the intersection which sees an average of 40,000 vehicles per day.
Several turning lanes are being added in all directions to address the problem.
The County of Essex will be using the hashtag '#CR2219' on social media to post information about road closures during construction.
