Concept plans for a new multi-use sports plex in Tecumseh have been unveiled.
The proposed complex will be built next to the existing arena complex on McNorton St. and is expected to include a FIFA size indoor soccer field with capabilities for baseball along with a double gym, a walking track, a cardiac wellness centre, multi-purpose rooms and a courtyard.
Deputy Mayor Joe Bachetti says before moving forward, the town is hoping to secure funds from the upper levels of government.
"We're taking the baby steps but we're also being fiscally responsible making sure all the questions, the design details are done early so when we're ready to move forward, we're going to go ahead and do it right," says Bachetti.

He says he looks at the complex as a town invest and a town asset that is meant for the entire community.
"It's truly multi-purpose with the gymnasium with the use that they can have through pickleball, to basketball, badminton and again a FIFA size soccer field, you don't have a facility from here to London," says Bachetti. "So the program rooms, the community partnerships that we'll be able to engage in is going to be a win for the region."
In 2016, when the town started to explore the idea, the estimated price tag was $24-million.
Bachetti says as of now, a new price tag has not been set but he expects it to be more.
