The Graduate Student Society's referendum on the University of Windsor's sports and recreation complex was done correctly.
Chief Returning Officer April Adams was contracted by the GSS to conduct the referendum. Adams says she carefully examined the way the GSS required the vote to be taken and followed the by-laws and constitution of GSS.
She says there was more than enough notice to the GSS membership.
"It requires 14 days notice which we gave, we actually gave 16 days," says Adams. "We put out the notice via email, Facebook we did all the media we could."

Adams says the membership of the GSS had more than enough chance to examine both sides of the question because there was a yes and no committee established and a townhall meeting was held.
Adams says this vote had 21% participation, the largest ever for a GSS vote. She adds that the complaint from Mohammad Akbar, who is not a GSS member and would not have been notified, is the only one at this point.
