Several people rallied to help a family in need in Amherstburg Friday night raising nearly $50,000.
Those from all over Windsor-Essex packed the Libro Credit Union Centre to attend the Adam's Eve Fundraiser.
The fundraiser was held to benefit the family of Adam Pouget, who died when he was struck by a car on his way to work on November 17.
All the money raised comes from the event and a GOFundMe page set up for the family.
Ashley Dupuis, the widow of Pouget, says he was a family man.
"He was an amazing father," says Dupuis. "He would work so hard and when he would come home he would spend so much time with the kids....He would help with the bedtime routines and he loved to do that and he was just a good person all around."
The mother of Pouget's widow, Shelly Antonucci, says she cannot thank the community enough for their support.
"It has been so amazing with the support that we have received," says Antonucci. "Even from the day of the accident, we have had people who have wanted to help and the support has been amazing these past few weeks and we really appreciate it."
The event's coordinator, David Hunter, says Windsor-Essex is one of the most giving regions in the world.
"Windsor is a great community," says Hunter. "It is a great community to live in and when people are down it seems like Windsor and Amherstburg and Essex County pick them up, put them on their shoulders and help them get through the tough times."
All proceeds will help support Pouget's widow and four children.
