The Essex community is mourning the loss of one of its local firefighters.
Firefighter Jared Burns, a valued member of the Essex Fire and Rescue team, passed away suddenly on Sunday at the age of 42.
Burns worked for Vollmer Inc. in Windsor and was a firefighter at Station 3 in Harrow since 2021.
Essex Fire and Rescue Fire Chief, Jason Pillon, tells AM800 News that they are respecting the Burns family's privacy, but can confirm that it was not a line of duty death.
Pillon adds that the Service's primary goal at this time is to take care of the Burns family, and staff and colleagues who are struggling at this time.
He states that Burns was a very well respected, extraordinary person, and was very dedicated to his job as a firefighter, and that he will be deeply missed.
Pillon says that peer support and death debriefing services are being offered to all Essex fire stations.
Essex Fire and Rescue Services will honour the life of Jared with a Firefighter Walkthrough during the Thursday evening visitation, and a funeral procession which will pass by Fire Station 3 on their way to the mass at St. Anthony's church on Friday morning.
