The public is being urged to continue practicing protective measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, even as Ontario begins relaxing some lockdown rules on Monday.
Windsor Regional Hospital Vice President of Critical Care and Director of Infection Control, Karen Riddell, says they are very cautiously optimistic and it does look like we have flattened the curve in Windsor-Essex.
"We're hoping with the loosening of restrictions that we're doing this in a measured approach," says Riddell. "In Ontario, the plan is to look at what we can do both locally and provincially, what could be opened safely,"
But Riddell says we still need to reduce the spread of the the novel coronavirus through physical distancing and good hand hygiene, because it's still in the community.
"We still need to reduce the spread of this virus, it's still in the community and we just make to sure we continue with that low curve, so we're able to manage it and get through it," she says.
As businesses reopen, Riddell says they will be looking over a two to four week period — the incubation period of COVID-19 — to see if they're having an increase in cases.
