The City of Windsor's Heritage Committee wants to take a closer look at the proposed plans for a new Windsor Public Library branch in Old Sandwich Town.
The issue has been deferred until its next meeting due to time restrictions.
The proposed library would be located at the historic Sandwich Fire Hall and would be known as the John Muir Public Library.
Windsor Public Library needs city approval before moving forward because the building is a heritage property and WPL is looking at making improvements and changes to the site.
CEO, Kitty Pope, says the deferral will impact the timelines of the project.
"We were hoping to open that new branch in almost a year from now, but deferrals happen and so we'll roll it back a little bit and hopefully get the committee to meet again and see that the design is really amazing."
She says there are two options for the fire tower.
"One is square, incomplete, not attractive, doesn't look nice, what else can I say, the other one is a beautiful slightly angled dome. This finishes off the building and is going to make it look iconic, award winning, a beautiful addition to Sandwich."
Pope adds, the library will keep many of the historic features.
"There was an old cinder block garage that we've taken down, there's a stable at the back that has historic significance and so we will create a bridge going across from the fire hall to the stable."
The Sandwich Fire Hall & Stable is located at 363 Mill Street.
