The group in charge of deciding the future of policing in Amherstburg has now set a date for a public meeting.
The Ontario Civilian Police Commission will hold a public meeting to receive submissions on Tuesday, June 26 from 9am to 4:30pm and from 6pm to 9pm.
It will take place at the Libro Credit Union Centre on Meloche Rd.
The commission is currently reviewing Amherstburg's application to have Windsor police take over policing responsibilities in the town.
Anyone wishing to make oral submissions to the Commission must provide notice by email to OCPCRegistrar@ontario.ca no later than June 15th.
The role of the OCPC is to decide whether the proposal will provide 'adequate and effective' policing services to residents.
The town would save roughly $567,000/year if it made the switch to Windsor police.
The contract, if approved, would go into effect January 1, 2019
